Drink the Bar Party

What do you get when you add best friends, good food and lots of cocktails? You turn a "stock" the bar party into a "drink" the bar party.

When our wonderful friends offered to throw Tim and I a shower, I suggested we have a stock the bar themed party. Of course Tim and I wanted liquor to fill our bar, but what we really wanted was just an excuse to have an amazing time with our best friends and we knew a stock the bar party would do the trick. And, well it did.

Thanks to the amazing hostesses, Carol, Lindsay, Taylor, Kate & Lauren, there wasn't a party guest who didn't have an great time. We played flip cup (of course), Tim and I danced (of course), the gals had a little too much fun with the hair spray (of course) and all in all, it was a success.

Successful not because Tim and I have a bar that is now stocked, but successful because of the memories we have from what will be known as "that wild night at Twin's house."

In all, we are so lucky to have such amazing and fun friends and are thrilled that so many of them made it out to the party!

And now more than ever, everyone is welcome to join us at our house for a cocktail - our bar is stocked and waiting for you.

Fun in Fargo

Up North (in places like Fargo), Aunts are called "Aunties" and if I must say, I have the three best Aunties in the world. Auntie Bobbi, Auntie Janice and Auntie Betsy are my dad's three sisters and they really are such inspiring women. Every time I am with them, I am always amazed with their supreme hospitality. They sure know how to host a party.

Their hostess skills were in full force just a few weeks ago when they gathered the extended Hill family and hosted an "Auntie" shower for me in Fargo. An "Auntie" shower is the traditional shower that my aunts host for all girls in the family who are getting married. They have this shower down to a science. The menu is geared toward one they call a "lady's lunch" - one my nonnie would've enjoyed in the 50's. Formal silver, china, snacks and of course champagne :)

So, the date was set for my Auntie shower and my mom and I jumped on a plane, headed to Fargo (yup! Fargo in February) and spent the weekend with the girls. We ate, drank, told stories and laughed. The occasion marked my first bridal shower & they made it so much fun. They showed so much love and support for me and Tim and I am so thankful that these Aunties are a part of my life. I can't wait to celebrate with them on June 4th.

My Maggie is in Heaven

Maggie was the best dog my family could ask for. We got her 10 years ago, I was 16. Maggie, a Brittany Spaniel, was loyal and loving. She was always by your side, always there for you and she was just a special friend. I had a hard time saying goodbye to Maggie when I left for college because I knew that I wasn't going to be able to see her everyday. But she kept my parent's company and it made me happy to know that there was no such thing as an empty nest with Maggie around. She was their baby.

Well sadly, Maggie unexpectedly passed away this weekend. We knew she was getting old, but this was sudden. Running to greet my Dad as he got home from work, Maggie just leaned up against the house and collapsed. She must've been tired and God took her to rest. It's been a very difficult 24 hours - I haven't stopped crying. My parents have been beside themselves. It just feels like we've lost a member of our family. But after accepting the fact that Maggie is gone, it makes us all happy to know that she is running free in Heaven and I can only hope that she is spending time with our family's first Brittany Spaniel, Corkey.

Both of those dogs gave our family so much joy and I know that our next dog will bring that same amount of joy to us. My parents will get another dog and pretty soon, Tim and I will get one of our one. I think it's safe to say that two new Brittany Spaniels will be in our family before the year's end.

But before we think about these new additions, this is our time to remember Maggie. Here's a few of my favortie photos of the best dog ever! Love you Mags!
